IT Guy Onsite is a local computer and IT support business serving homes and small businesses across Melbourne's east — onsite or remotely.

How we work

Most people call us because something has stopped working and it is getting in the way of their day. So the first thing we do is listen properly: what the computer is doing, when it started, and what it is preventing you from finishing.

From there we say honestly whether it can be handled remotely, whether it needs a visit, and what the charges start from. If a repair is not worth the money, we will tell you that too.

We explain what went wrong in ordinary language. Many of our customers are not technical, and quite a few are elderly. Nobody should have to pretend they understood the explanation.

Where we can, we fix the underlying cause rather than the symptom, and suggest sensible backups and protection to reduce the chance of it happening again.

Who we help

Home users — a slow or broken computer, Wi-Fi that won't reach the back room, email that stopped working, or a suspicious pop-up demanding money.

Small businesses — company email on your own domain, printers and scanners, shared files and NAS storage, office networks, backups, and ongoing support so somebody is there when things break.

We work across clinics, accountants, real estate, trades, hospitality, wholesalers and other small businesses, as well as households throughout the eastern suburbs.

Frequently asked questions

What areas do you cover?

Onsite visits across 31 suburbs in Melbourne's east, from Camberwell and Box Hill through to Ringwood, Rowville and Wheelers Hill. Remote support is available outside that area.

What does it cost?

Remote support is from $149 per hour. Onsite support is a call-out from $99 plus labour from $149 per hour — the call-out is charged in addition to labour. All displayed rates include GST. Cash discounts are available; ask when booking.

What are your hours?

Monday to Friday, 9am – 6pm. If we are with another customer, leave a message and we will call you back.

Should I choose remote or onsite support?

If the computer turns on and can get online, remote support is often quicker and has no call-out. Hardware faults, Wi-Fi coverage, printers, cabling or a computer that won't start usually need a visit. Describe the symptoms when you call and we will suggest which suits.

How does remote support work?

With your permission, we connect to your computer over the internet and work on the problem remotely. You stay in control of whether the connection is allowed.

I don't know the technical words for what's wrong. Is that a problem?

Not at all. Describe what you see on the screen and what you were doing at the time. We will explain what we find in plain language.

Do you help older people who aren't confident with computers?

Yes, and a lot of our work is exactly that. We take the time to explain things, we don't rush, and we're happy to go over something again.

Do you repair Apple Macs, recover data or build websites?

No. We don't offer Apple Mac repairs, data recovery from failed drives, or website design. We focus on Windows PCs, networks, email and small business IT.

Can you set up email with our own business domain?

Yes. We set up company email addresses on your own domain name and get them working on computers and phones.

Do you offer ongoing support for businesses?

Yes — by the visit or on a regular arrangement, combining remote and onsite support depending on what the business needs.

Not sure what's wrong? Just describe it.

Email us what the computer is doing in your own words. We will tell you whether it suits remote or onsite help and what the charges start from.
